This temperate rainforest is teeming with pine trees and moss, which makes a great home for the variety of prey that lives here. The coast is rocky and sharp, cold and brutal, but it can be made a home to those who are willing to fight for it.
Somewhere in this vast rainforest lies a clearing where no trees seem able to grow, though smaller plants thrive here. Roughly in the middle of the clearing stands one lone conifer tree that seems to be growing an appendage underneath the trunk. This long, moss-covered appendage is actually the remains of a fallen tree, which has become what is known as a nurse log. The nutrients from the decayed fallen tree created seedlings, which allowed this one tall, living tree to begin growing from it. The nurse log itself is almost completely blended in with the forest floor and looks like a strange hill of moss and shrubs. Small animals like to roost upon it, and so it is also littered with droppings and left-over debris from these critters.
